1884 Lilac and Green Colour Trials
I have been searching Gibbons QV Specialist and Wiseman for the Colour Trials of this issue. I keep searching for these seemingly elusive beasties and have seen one in Yellow, ( a rare QV Colour), but what other ones are there? I gather there was an article in the Journal but I believe this was befo...

Thank you for this Robin. I am not sure how to respond. Portugal did OP some GB material with Ultramar but this was for UPU purposes, (see book by Bendon on UPU OP's). Cancelled seems OK by Vol 2 of Gibbons Specialist - 4 Kings and latest Oct 09 issue. Page 267 in this does not mention Blue OP on an...

Hello Robin Interesting this. It so happens I have my copy of Samuel and Huggins book on Specimens next to me. If it is genuine it could be Type 33 OP as this is the only one listed for the Coronation. The book warn us that any stamps of this period need to come form of guarantee. Type 33 is a Cance...

Hello Robin You have raised an issue that has been troubling moi considerably for a while now - sad case that I am! I want to enter competitions with my stamps, but, dare I add these "colonial" OP's? If I do will I be marked grossly out order and lose marks - or if I do will I be credited ...

I am sorry for you robinT. I would not say 'useless webmaster' but I would say to 'err is human its takes a computer to really foul things up.' I find the best thing to do, as I refuse to trust anything created by data, is to highlight what you have written, then CTRL plus C and keep this copy. I th...

Actually I seem to recall I also commented on the display which was of eye watering magnificence. Even my Philatelic better half, who specialises in mis-perfs enjoyed the display.
I love Specimens and Cancelleds and miss having a rather lot of the bits in our collection!!

Help my first message vanished! Harvey has a point but I feel that the matter is far deeper and more interesting than that. I was looking at my own collection which values such eccentricity and I have hole punched Geo V but Ed VIII only with holes and no OP (Overprint). I thinkl you have something q...

I forgot to mention. Samuel and Huggins is on Page 45 and do not mention the 2 1/2d but this was 1980.
I have just had a closer look at the SG Four Kings on Pages 194-5 and it mentions Type 33P for Booklets BC2/4.
Sounbds like you have the real McCoy there!
