213 $T2eC16R,!)oFIeKHUlsKBSUrGscjzQ~~60_12.JPG The QV Jubilee 1/2d green was issued in three inks. First a "lead green" 17 April 1900, a reformulated "zinc green" August 1900 to replace the toxic lead & then a new "organic pigment" Nov. 1900. SG Vol. 1, 16th report...

Re: Pre 1900 Inwards mail to New Zealand from the UK

Dispatched 2 Jan 1902 and redirected within NZ. Showing distress but cost very little yet fascinating. 4d is not common at empire letter rate paying 4x 1/2oz., 2d Jubilee much more common. Empire rate from 1 Jan 1901 to NZ much later than most colonies from 25 Dec 1898 listed here https://www.gbps.o...

This is a difficult subject. In fact the SG evening last Dec. 2022 was going to be on this subject but was cancelled due to train strikes... Mike Williams (line engraved consultant) was planning to talk. Personally my experiences over 5 years (pre covid) was about 4 examples submitted to the Royal w...

I also use the Signoscope with acceptable results so agree. However still need fluid and tray for some difficult LC T1 T2 differentiation on QV line engraved.

Re: Information on KEVII 4d. with Queen Victoria -White 4- variety

Wiseman reports in his 'DLR Years' that the white 4s are not what he calls true plate varieties but due to print room problems in make-ready. He writes in QV context but he also studied Jubilees through KEVII. Many QV Jubilee varieties run on through KEVII. Back to white 4s: I have seen many QV 4d a...

Re: Victoria Jubilee issue layout

Further to the 4 1/2d which I do not doubt the above, not all Jubilees were printed in this format. SG 16th reports (page 255) that the 320 set sheet was for 4d, 4 1/2d, 9d and 10d. I can confirm the panes are 4x5=20 for the 4d. However the 2d value is different. These were printed 240 set and issue...

Peter sounds very interesting. I have some "C8A" too but most only got certs as C8 due to "traces" of blueing. Its a tricky one. Would be something if your results were consistent for blueing traces or not. C8A is not catalogued for shades so interesting what your study comes up ...
