I suspect you have used the correct EI lettering (not EL as may appear at first glance), as that is in the scan file name. However have you transposed your c and d readings?

FWIW, I make it 6 2+ 2- 8- and come up with several A2 possibilities.

I'm not familiar with the Mac, but if you keep things as simple as possible and scan at 800dpi and directly save into jpg format, what does the saved file show as its Properties - Details - Image for the first half dozen entries for Image?

You don't say what software you are using or in what format is the file you save when you have made a scan.
Assuming you are scanning a single stamp into a jpg format file, what does the file show as its Properties - Details - Image for the first half dozen entries for Image?

You do see paper folds from time to time on stamps from the 1d Black onwards. Not common, I'd call them scarce rather than 'rare', which I consider an overused attribute in philately.

Worth a nice premium, certainly when so noticeable like yours.

Have you contacted the publishers of the most recent compilation, BCC Midlands Edition?

I see they had ground rules agreed and documented with the late Barrie Jay, although that was back in 2006, for their 2013 publication.

Do such anomalies deserve a mention in SG4K?
I'd say no for datestamp errors, but if you find this is a constant anomaly for that office, you could always suggest that to the editor(s).

Sorry to apply a note of caution. To my eye your nice block is on very blue paper, rather than within the SG category of lavender-tinted. But I always apply the cautionary note that is with my eyes through my screen via your scan, any or all of which can change the colour perception.

Andy jimw has hit the nail on the head. The positioning of these stamps on the plate can be useful for the plater. For example, stamp CE is positioned a little high. If you have access to Stanley Gibbons Specialised Volume 1 Queen Victoria, the general notes show three pages of the four alphabets.

You know more about the types than I do, but if that type is of usual scarcity, I would say that it only has curiosity value in the condition that you describe - say 50p in a club book.
