Post by asmodeus »

Who can help me out? Who can show me scans, guide lines etc. to identify the Archer perforation.

Thank you for the help!

Denis, here are three examples from Plate 98. The Archer perforated stamps had Alphabet 1 letters; the officially-perforated stamps had Alphabet 2. I've noticed that the corner perfs on Archers can be slightly out of alignment, producing an odd-looking corner. In 1950, Alcock published the 2nd edn of Gardiner-Hill's booklet on the Archer plates which lists various varieties. Alcock produced a companion set of photographs of stamps with constant minor varieties; and in 1963 they produced a set of 40 photos of all the Archer group (Plates 92-101), but these photos are difficult to obtain.
