Alphabet I, II or III

The usage of different alphabets is helpful to identify Archer Perforations and the association to different plates.

But how to identify the different alphabets and the deviations between them.

A link or a hint concerning literature would be much appreciated

Manfred,

If you have access to Stanley Gibbons Specialised Volume 1 Queen Victoria, the general notes show three pages of the four alphabets.

Some letterings are easy to identify, some less so...

Hope you have found some help with your query, i strongly recommend this book
The Alphabets of the British Line Engraved Stamps, published by R C Alcock
in 1936.There was one available on Bill Barrells web site, a well known philatelic dealer,
if you still require assistance i have been interested in this area for many years and would be happy to advise you.Please let me know how you have got on ,and if you require any guide lines.
