Dear All,

Here are a few flaws I found on a bag of ½d green on piece. I have examined them as carefully and thoroughly as possible, and am satisfied that they are all in the printing, and not caused by scratches or other damages found on stamps that have been used. This does not mean they are constant of course. But...

If anybody has any of these, or can offer any comment, I'll be very pleased to receive them. Thank you!

From left to right:

The G has a pale line across its base.

The A has a white spot near the top, on the right.

The G has the edge eroded on the upper outer curve.

The left stamp of the three has a clear block of solid colour behind POS. The middle stamp is normal, but the right side stamp has the same characteristic, not so noticeable because of the cancellation. Of the four, this feels like a authentic flaw due to retouching. On all three stamps there is a sort of scratched disturbance.

Unfortunately, my collection of KEVIII was put together many years ago and consists virtually entirely of cylinder blocks (from sheets and booklet panes) and I have none of the large pieces that would be so helpful in cases like these. And... oh for a mass of whole sheets!

Cheers, Robin Restall
