Hello all,
I got this letter and also a few similar.
Does anyone know why this is 2 times sent to the same address?
What was the procedure?

Regards,

Looks to me as if the account was sent in February, then the same document used as a receipt in March - anyone any other ideas ?

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your reply.
You are right, It has been sent as an invoice and the second time as a receipt for payment. But how did this work? Was the invoice sent back to Birkenhead in an other envelope together with the payment (cheque, postal order, cash)??

When, in the dim and distant past, people were trusted to pay for goods or services on receipt of an invoice, I believe that is how the system worked, but without more information, it is difficult to prove in this instance. The receipted invoice would have been returned as proof of payment.
