Unidentified / Experimental Cancelation

Post by JWorek »

Any help identifying the obliterator on this penny star would be appreciated. It appears to be a multiple-impression cancel in the style of the old inland office markings but the one is in box instead of a diamond. It doesn't match any of the experimental / trail cancellations I can find, unless it's a strange Scots Aberdeen variety using a London style. Thanks for any help,

The cancel is a London Roller type 3, Number 1 boxed with a bar structure of 3-5-3
Not found in any of the Proof Books, no dated copies have been recorded to my knowledge, but the cancel has been found on stamps introduced from May 1857 to March 1868
Very Rare (Recorded on Stamp Only)
For more information on roller cancels visit Russell Taylors website http://gbvictorianpostmarks.co.uk/wp/ro ... ns/london/
