Thanks, my original post is not clear, i know it is Dublin. What does the small 6 in the triagle stand for.
Re: Postmark ID 1864 Penny Red

Larry,
This 'killer' cancellation was usd on newspapers and wrappers from about 1875. It is referred to as type K4x in 'Irish Diamonds' by Stan Challis & is uncommon (I've never seen one before.) On plate 150 this seems very early use and is a really clean strike. Numbers ranged 1 to 8.

Brian Thank You for the input, I will try to buy a copy of "Irish Diamonds" book. The publisher says it is sold out. Not listed in any of my searchs today. Is it possible to get a scan of the page that mentions this postmark. I will try to figure out a method to sort my 250,000 four corner Penny Red stamps for other matches.

Larry,
Regret the 450-page tome is much too beefy for my lightweight LiDE scanner. It might be a good idea to send the scan to Stan Challis for his records, useful for any future update to the book - I expect he has received a plethora of new info since publication - and he may be able to point to available sources.

Try this - Hope this helps & is right info. I haven't had a chance to familiarize myself with the formatting yet. Sorry for the blur - its a big book as Brian mentioned and I had a tough time with the scan. Wmlarry rausch wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2024 5:09 pm Need identification on four corner penny red postmark.
