Possible frame break in 1d lilac

I was checking over about a hundred 1d lilacs I have accumulated, searching for inverted watermark K8d and frame breaks K8j and K8k.

Didn't find any, but came across the following apparent breaks in the NW corner of one stamp. It does appear to be a genuine frame break, as the corner between the two breaks seems to be slightly misaligned with the rest of the frame.

It is not listed by Gibbons in their Vol 1 9th edition.

Can anyone shed any light on this ? Is it a known but unlisted variety?

As the system doesn't seem to like Imageshack, try this one

Regret to advise that there are literally 100's of frame breaks on the 1d lilac issue. If you want to look further at these you need to go no further than R Lee's 1963 work 'The Penny Lilac' which was published by GBPS. He studied some 3 1/2 million copies of the stamp!!

Thanks Russell - will look out for Lee's book - I'm on a fairly steep learning curve since I joined GBPS!

Part 2 of Ron Lee's book is available from the Society at

http://www.gbps.org.uk/books.htm

but unfortunately frame breaks were covered in Part 1 (long out of print).

Thanks Mike - I have ordered Part II, and no doubt Bill Barrel will find a Part 1 for me eventually.
