Very hard to tell from a picture. Scans are better. But, a cursory glance , I think a K . The top right upstroke does not seem to be rounded like an R would be. Also, the right downward leg I think might be too straight for R. Are you sure on plate 93? I am only on iPad so,hard to,tell and I’m no expert , but it doesn’t look like either to me for 93…..

I agree with Galveston: it is difficult to tell from the photo, but I am inclined to plump for a “K”. However, if that is the case this cannot be Plate 93 according to the criteria listed in “The Plating of the Penny”. It does not exhibit the following:- bottom of SW square extended, “I” tilted E, and SE weak. The only one of the listed criteria exhibited is “EXN” which in any case is noted as not constant. No, without the ability to measure the ckeck letters accurately, I am not convinced this is Plate 93.

Thank you to Galveston, Petrod and Jimw - I will have look again, especially at plate 89 and consider the letter to be an 'F'.

Richard

Richard,

With the defective 'F', inverted 'I' and EXN I make plate 125 Hobson's choice.
