POST EARLY IN THE DAY

Post by Manfred Klimmeck »

I am trying to collect material for an exhibit or publication concerning LATE FEE and TOO LATE obliterations (perhaps you can be supportive).

So I have found this cover with an "POST EARLY IN THE DAY" obliteration.

Is this just a marking like "you the correct zip code" or is this the documentation for a certain service?

Manfred, this is a standard slogan postmark first used I think 1937 and then regularly. Presumably just an attempt at better efficiency but nothing really to do with late fees or too late aspects.
