Does anyone know where I can glean information on Maltese Crosses used on Plates 46 and 47 Imperf Penny Reds?

While I know there is use of MX after plate 40, 43, I’ve never seen it broken down by plate. This site may have some examples, reference material.

Good luck.

In my own collection the only plate of which I do not have a copy with a Maltese cross cancellation (so far) in the group from 1a to 45, is 43. And of course SG Specialised does not mention MC cancellations after Plate 45. I have recently been given reason to believe that SG Specialised is not to be relied upon as the last word on the subject however. Probably not much help, but for what it’s worth (1d ?).

Hi
The late use of the Maltese cross has been recorded by many publications
including the cancellations of the 1841
Penny Red by Goldsmith and Danzig.
Many examples have been discovered some as late as 1859, it is not that rare.
Some offices didn't receive a numeral cancellor, so they continued with the Maltese cross.
