Post Office Act 1977

An Act to increase the maximum number of members of the Post Office.

Be it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1.—(1) The word "nineteen" shall be substituted for the word "twelve" in section 6(2) of the Post Office Act 1969 (composition of the Post Office).

(2) At the end of section 6(2) of the Post Office Act 1969 (composition of the Post Office) there shall be inserted:—

"(2A) The maximum number of other members specified in subsection (2) above shall be reduced to twelve on 31st March 1980, except in so far as the Secretary of State shall by order made by statutory instrument otherwise specify.

No order shall be made in pursuance of this subsection unless a draft of the order has been approved by resolution of each House of Parliament.".

(3) This Act may be cited as the Post Office Act 1977.
