King George V Printing Plates

Douglas N. Muir

This book records information which describes the background to and production and use of plates to print postage and postage due stamps for the Post Office, and plates used in the production of fiscal stamps.

The information has been extracted by Douglas Muir in the course of his research for his BPMA book, George V and the G.P.O.: Stamps, Conflict & Creativity; the Council of the Great Britain Philatelic Society decided in discussion with Douglas that this detailed information should be published separately for the benefit of students of issues of King George V stamps.

The main part of the book comprises tabulations of the printing plates manufactured by the Royal Mint and delivered to Somerset House, which were used for letterpress stamp production from 1911 to 1934.

Price £60 (GBPS members £54). Hardback wire-bound, size A4, iv + 210 pages.
