GBPS Programme 2022-2023

This will be a King George VI Definitive & Queen Elizabeth II Wilding Day consisting of as many members' displays as possible.

This is an opportunity for you to show any aspect of the KGVI or QEII Wilding definitives that you find interesting be they stamps, covers, proofs, errors or whatever. Do you have a new theory to air with your peers? Do you have a problem with which you would like some help?

The only restriction for the day is it must be GB King George VI Definitive or Queen Elizabeth II Wilding related material.

As the day consists solely of in-room members' displays there will be no PowerPoint or Zoom element so please do come along and join us in person, if you are able.

Please bring along something to show and it would help plan the day if you could email our Meeting Manager, David Griffin, via meetings@gbps.org.uk or ring David on 07450 113084 to let him know how much you plan to bring and the topic.

As announced in the Newsletter, the GBPS have been invited to display to the Royal Philatelic Society, London (RPSL) on Thursday 1 December 2022.

The GBPS will be putting together an ensemble display of 62 frames (each of 16 standard size sheets). We want to show the full breadth and depth of GB collecting so everything from pre-stamp to modern decimal GB, overprinted for use abroad, postal stationery, fiscals, Cinderella, etc. are all welcome and indeed encouraged. If you wish to take part in the display then in the first instance please email our Meeting Manager, David Griffin, via meetings@gbps.org.uk or ring David on 07450 113084 to offer a frame of material for the display. Please provide your full name and contact details (email/phone), the subject of your proposed frame and the period it covers (pre-stamp, QV, etc. if not obvious from the subject).

Handout Requirements and Schedule

We are planning a GB Journal-style handout to be available at the RPSL on the day, and a limited number to be available by post on a first-come basis to those who weren't at the display. For the handout we will need a scan of one item from your display (300 ppi for a cover, 600 ppi for a stamp); a caption for the scan of not more than 50 words; a title; and a description for the frame as a whole of between 150 and 250 words. These will be required by 10 October 2022 at the latest but please send as soon as convenient to avoid everything arriving at once in October! Again, these should be sent to David for checking and collating.

Attending the meeting

RPSL meetings are open to their members, fellows and invited guests. If you wish to attend the meeting (whether displaying on the day or not) but are not a member of the Royal then please contact David (details as above) and ask to be added to the RPSL Guest list. If you have not been pre-registered on the RPSL guest list we cannot guarantee you will be admitted on the day.
