The Mulready Postal Stationery - Its Genesis, Production, and Usage

Alan Huggins and Alan Holyoake

As would be expected from the authors, this book is a major addition to the literature on the Mulready. It is fully illustrated in colour providing not only a comprehensive source of reference but also, in a single book, images of many of the iconic items, demonstrating their involvement in the initiation of the reforms to the postal system.

It comprises an overview of the origins of pre-stamped stationery, the proposals made during the period of postal reform followed by the production, issue and usage of the Mulready letter sheets and envelopes. This history is amplified by the eight-frame international-award-winning study, Introduction and Usage of the Mulready Postal Stationery which demonstrates how the story of this historically important postal area can be presented as an exhibit.
